North Ayrshire Council (NAC) is commissioning a suitable provider to deliver an Adult Respite Service within North Ayrshire. Respite care is a service intended to benefit a carer and the person he or she cares for by providing a short break from caring tasks. The break is made possible through alternative care arrangements. Breaks may last a few hours and up to 42 nights and may or may not be repeated at regular intervals. Respite services will be provided on the basis of an individual assessment of need carried out by a social work or health professional. The service will be delivered to individuals over the age of 18 who have a learning disability. Some individuals may also have a mental health condition, complex needs and may display behaviours that challenge. The service will be delivered from an accessible, 8 unit, purpose built Council owned building, Taigh Mor, based in Beith, North Ayrshire. The service will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year within the Taigh Mor building. Delivery of this service contribute to the following North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership Priorities: Priority 4 - Prevention and Early Intervention Priority 5 - Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing
Renewal: Contract is subject to extension after 24 and 36 months

Carrying out frequent checks and reconciliation in compliance with the Specification 3. Reporting to the Council on the extent to which the Provider is achieving the Specification 3. Making suggestions to the Council as to how the Services could be improved, and in particular taking into account views expressed by residents, Customers and other occupiers of Locations.
