Fraserburgh 2021 Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme/ Townscape Heritage initiative - Training for Professionals - Specifiers/Local Building Surveyors

Lot 1
Conservation Training for Professionals: Specifiers/Local Building Surveyors who still tend to recommend modern techniques and materials to repairs. Training will provide local specifiers with sufficient knowledge of maintenance work and conservation practice to allow them to make informed decisions on the repair and restoration of buildings. This should potentially include collaborations with the RIAS & RICS North East Regions to take advantage of CPD possibilities. We are committed to delivering skills development training for a minimum of 8 specifiers attending a number of 1/2 day seminars on standards. Bidder may propose any training structure/ timetable, bearing in mind that specifiers may have limited time to attend training sessions. The successful bidder will have the responsibility of advertising/marketing training sessions and recruiting training course attendees. Prospective attendees may include students of architecture and other building-related disciplines. Duration of the requirement, All training sessions should be delivered before 31st December 2018. Sustainability requirements We seek to lay a framework for high quality conservation standard works from outset and agreed parameters for grant aiding properties thus having long term sustainable repairs to conservation standard. Community Benefits considerations Design of these sessions should take into consideration: - awareness raising and education on the cost effectiveness of traditional techniques and materials. - increasing understanding of cultural heritage resources. - working with other CARS projects, AC staff, SPAB, other THs/CARS to and also local contractors to develop training material for pricing, seminars on energy efficiency and materials and standards. - ensuring best value for public purse and confidence in building works undertaken as against set criteria. - ensuring understanding of healthy house and energy efficiency and standards and materials to be utilised.
