Summary of the contracting process

The Orkney Islands Council is currently seeking tenders for the provision of School Teacher Transport (Isles), which facilitates the safe conveyance of teachers and officials from airstrips and ferries to schools across various locations in the Orkney Islands. This open procurement process is in the active tender stage, with a submission deadline set for 31 August 2018. The contract value is £70,000 and involves several specific delivery locations, including Papa Westray, Eday, Rousay, Sanday, Stronsay, and Westray. Interested bidders should note that the opening of bids will take place on the same day as the tender deadline at the Council Offices in Kirkwall.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for transport service providers, particularly those specialising in school and public transport services. Companies experienced in providing reliable transport solutions in remote areas, especially those with capabilities to operate on the Orkney Islands, would be strongly suited to compete. Bidders should demonstrate their technical abilities and provide evidence of financial stability, given the selection criteria outlined by the Orkney Islands Council. With options for contract renewals and an emphasis on the flexibility and reliability of services, successful bidders may find the prospect of a long-term partnership attractive.
