North Ayrshire Council is seeking to appoint a service provider with the appropriate experience of collection of and recycling, reuse and recovery of Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) segregated at the Councils Designated Collection Facilities (DCF).

North Ayrshire Council is seeking to appoint a service provider with the appropriate experience of supplying containers for the storage of and the collection of and recycling, reuse and recovery of Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) segregated at the Councils Designated Collection Facilities (DCF). The service provider will carry out all responsibilities in line with the Code of Practice for the Collection of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) from Designated Collection Facilities (DCFs) and recover the material through an Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs). The provider is required to be a Producer Compliance Scheme (PCS) operator which offers services beyond the requirements set out in the appropriate regulations who, will supply containers at the Councils Designated Collection Facilities and uplift WEEE. For the avoidance of doubt the operator will pay all costs for the collection and treatment of WEEE from the Councils DCFs. The amounts of waste to be recycled/reused/recovered during the contract period, is estimated at around 780 tonnes per annum. Tenderers should note that the WEEE currently annually collected consists of Fridges (approx 200 tonnes), CRTs (approx 130 tonnes), LDA (approx 220 tonnes), Mixed WEEE (approx 230 tonnes) and Lamps (approx 1 tonnes) Household Batteries (approx 2 tonnes). North Ayrshire Council seeks interested suppliers to provide market feedback.
