Lot Information

Lot 1

The conservation, restoration and repair work to the Forester's Cottage form part of a wider Aden Country Park Restoration & Redevelopment Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Parks for People Project being led by Aberdeenshire Council. There will be separate contractors appointed for these works. Some liaison with other contractors may be required as both projects will be running at the same time. The Forester's Cottage, in Aden Country Park, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, is an historically important Grade C listed building under immediate risk of dereliction. The cottage roof has recently given way, resulting in the internal structure being exposed, increasing the risk of it becoming a ruin. Our project will sensitively conserve, repair, and refurbish this historic building, bringing it back into use as a self-catering holiday let. We propose to conserve the built heritage of the cottage to provide a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, self-catering offer that can comfortably sleep up six people and will be graded at 3-star+ or above. All capital work improvements are to be sympathetic to the listed building character, and carried out, wherever possible, in accordance with conservation best practice, set out in the Historic Environment Scotland (HES) Advisory Standards of Conservation and Repair for the Historic Building Environment in Scotland. This is to both ensure best practise and that the cultural significance of the building is not compromised. The work will look to retain as much historic and original fabric as possible by minimising interventions. Indeed, works to the existing fabric will adopt traditional materials, craft skills and construction techniques found in the original building.

"description": "The conservation, restoration and repair work to the Forester's Cottage form part of a wider Aden Country Park Restoration & Redevelopment Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Parks for People Project being led by Aberdeenshire Council. Indeed, works to the existing fabric will adopt traditional materials, craft skills and construction techniques found in the original building.",

Community benefits are included in this requirement. For more information see: http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/info/InfoCentre.aspx?ID=2361 A summary of the expected community benefits has been provided as follows: Please submit information as to how your organisation will assist the Council in furthering these sustainability and community benefits objectives in relation to this Contract. You should include information on how this might be measured throughout the term of the Contract. This will include such things as: timescales, evidence capture, reporting and quality assurance systems (where applicable), processes and resources relating to delivery of these benefits. You should include an outline of all community benefits that your organisation will commit to deliver during the lifetime of this Contract/Framework Agreement, should you be successful. Tenderers should be aware that only those community benefits that relate to the subject matter of the Contract/Framework can be taken into account in this evaluation. Although the judgment of relevance is a matter for the Council, an innovative approach towards how those benefits relate to the Contract/Framework Agreement is encouraged. (SC Ref:554988)",
