PLEASE NOTE THIS NOTICE HAS ONLY BEEN CREATED TO ACT AS A POSTBOX FOR NOTICE AUG329204 (BIDDERS ARE UNABLE TO SUBMIT BIDS VIA THE POSTBOX FOR THE ORIGINAL NOTICE). The conservation, restoration and repair work to the Forester's Cottage form part of a wider Aden Country Park Restoration & Redevelopment Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Parks for People Project being led by Aberdeenshire Council. There will be separate contractors appointed for these works. Some liaison with other contractors may be required as both projects will be running at the same time. The Forester's Cottage, in Aden Country Park, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, is an historically important Grade C listed building under immediate risk of dereliction. The cottage roof has recently given way, resulting in the internal structure being exposed, increasing the risk of it becoming a ruin. Our project will sensitively conserve, repair, and refurbish this historic building, bringing it back into use as a self-catering holiday let. We propose to conserve the built heritage of the cottage to provide a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, self-catering offer that can comfortably sleep up six people and will be graded at 3-star+ or above. All capital work improvements are to be sympathetic to the listed building character, and carried out, wherever possible, in accordance with conservation best practice, set out in the Historic Environment Scotland (HES) Advisory Standards of Conservation and Repair for the Historic Building Environment in Scotland. This is to both ensure best practise and that the cultural significance of the building is not compromised. The work will look to retain as much historic and original fabric as possible by minimising interventions. Indeed, works to the existing fabric will adopt traditional materials, craft skills and construction techniques found in the original building.
