The aim of the Vacant and Derelict Task Force is to provide a catalyst for addressing long-term land vacancy and dereliction in Scotland. To do this we intend to: -build broad-based support for a concerted national effort to tackle the problem of by engaging proactively with local authorities, other public agencies and relevant organisations within the third and private sectors; -review current policies to identify and remove barriers for development on long-term vacant and derelict sites; -embed a more strategic approach toward tackling land dereliction at a national level and within key partner authorities; -support planning authorities to bring about a substantial reduction in the amount of vacant and derelict land in Scotland. In order to deliver this ambition, there will be a requirement for high-quality professional support from experienced property market professionals. The SLC intends to commission a suitably experienced contractor to help provide this support.
