The Consultant must have detailed knowledge and extensive experience of: - working with contractors on conservation of historical buildings under CARS projects; - delivering cost effective projects on time in remote locations; - delivering community benefits and upskilling opportunities during conservation works; - building relationships with owners and local community groups; - delivering conservation area appraisals and management plans. The Consultant must also demonstrate a sustainable approach to project delivery in local context.

North Ayrshire Council requires appropriately qualified, experienced and resourced Consultants for the provision of Conservation Architectural and Quantity Surveying Services to support the implementation of the Small Grants Scheme and Shopfront Improvements Scheme under the Millport Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme. The Consultant must demonstrate the appropriate level of resources to ensure efficient service delivery. The Lead Architect must: - possess conservation accreditation from the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (or equivalent); - have detailed knowledge of and extensive experience of building standards and planning regulations in Scotland, especially in relation to conservation of historic buildings; - have detailed knowledge of and experience of working on CARS projects (or other Historic Environment Scotland/Heritage Lottery Fund funded physical projects), including compliance with their terms and conditions of grant and budget management; - have an extensive experience of delivering cost effective conservation projects in remote locations, especially in relation to CARS projects (or other Historic Environment Scotland/ Heritage Lottery Fund funded physical projects); - have detailed knowledge of and extensive experience of working with building contractors in Scotland, especially in relation to conservation of historic buildings; - have detailed knowledge of and experience of delivering community benefits provisions through the conservation work tender; - have experience of providing upskilling opportunities in traditional building methods during conservation works; - demonstrate sustainable approach to project delivery in the local context; - have experience in building relationships with the owners and local community groups, especially in relation to CARS projects; - have experience in delivering conservation area appraisals and management plans. The Quantity Surveyor must be a fully Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and experienced in cost managing heritage based projects.
