Notice Title

Windows supply and fit - PS Maid of the Loch

Notice Description

Supply and fit 20 windows to public spaces in cafeteria (Main Deck aft) as an element of the partial refit of PS Maid of the Loch, berthed in Balloch. Funding secured.

Lot Information

Lot 1

To meet today's maritime safety standards it is necessary to replace the glazing in the main deck public spaces, beginning with the aft cafeteria, with 6mm tempered glass. This must be clearly marked to suit the vessel Class requirement. This space is situated on the main deck, at the aft end of the vessel. All trim, panelling and other impediments have been removed and there is clear access to the windows and fastenings. The original aluminium frames are bolted through from the outside of the hull using countersunk set screws with nuts on the inside. The window assembly lifts inwards. Access to the outside is restricted as the work is over water. However, a pontoon is available, only if the contractor's proposed use of it satisfies the client and H&S requirements. The work includes the removal of 20 windows, some of which have the original glass, and some fitted with Perspex. Some of the original aluminium frames are missing. These are to be replaced by using good frames from the forward dining room on the same deck. See specification document and "how to apply" document available on PCS site.
