Notice Title
Orkney Native Wildlife Project - Evaluation
Notice Description
The RSPB, in partnership with Scottish Natural Heritage and the Orkney Islands Council, is about to embark on what will be the world's largest stoat eradication. The Orkney Native Wildlife Project ('ONWP' hereafter), plans to remove the invasive non-native stoat from Orkney Mainland and the linked isles of Lamb Holm, Glimps Holm, Hunda, Burray and South Ronaldsay through a trapping operation. The project will commence on February 1st, 2019 and will last for a duration of five years. We are looking for an external evaluator that will analyse and evaluate all aspects of the project, including training, use of volunteers, public engagement and public opinion. This will be done through data analysis, conducting interviews and focus groups, and compiling opinion surveys. The evaluator will also be expected to deliver mid-term and end-of-project reports which will evaluate all aspects of the project.

With wildlife being a key contributor to the economy and cultural identity of Orkney, the project also plans to engage with local communities and visitors. Generating public support for the project will improve the effectiveness of the eradication. Furthermore, the project aims to help build an increased appreciation and understanding of Orkney's wildlife, through education, volunteering opportunities and community engagement. We are looking for an external evaluator that will analyse and evaluate all aspects of the project, including training, use of volunteers, public engagement and public opinion. This will be done through data analysis, conducting interviews and focus groups, and compiling opinion surveys.
