    "description": "BRIEF FOR THE DAVID LIVINGSTONE TRUST The David Livingstone Trust (DLT) wishes to employ a consultant to support the Trust in the planning and delivery of its operations and operational planning. Specifically, we are looking for someone who has a good understanding of IT functions and with strong on-line marketing and social media skills. The Trust was successful in July 2017 in obtaining a 6.1 million GBP grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Scottish Government and Historic Environment Scotland for the Birthplace Project. The project will refurbish the Shuttle Row building, where Livingstone's was born and provide a new exhibition that sheds new light on the man and his life. The successful consultant will help us plan with the re-opening of the Centre and help drive visitor and on-line interest in the Project and the Trust. . The David Livingstone Trust was entrusted in 1929 with the ownership of the David Livingstone Centre at Blantyre, which includes the Listed Building of his birth, surrounding parkland, and the 3,000 piece David Livingstone collection. DLT is charged through its constitutional documents with keeping alive the name and memory of David Livingstone at the site of his birth by making it available to the public, and providing an interesting, educational and enjoyable cultural experience. Further information on the project and the Trust can be found at https://www.david-livingstone-trust.org/ The role will be expected to be based at the David Livingstone Project Offices, in Rutherglen, and once the Centre re-opens may be based at the Trust's site at Blantyre. The specific arrangements for the post will be confirmed with the successful candidate at the appointment stage.
