Summary of the contracting process

The East Renfrewshire Council has initiated a tender for the "Roads & Footways Reconstruction / Resurfacing Framework Agreement" aimed at establishing a framework for road and footway reconstruction, specifically for works related to Glasgow Road – Gilmour Street in Eaglesham. This tender process, which has been completed, concluded with the award on 24th May 2019, and involved an open procurement method. Interested parties submitted their bids electronically by the deadline on 18th April 2019. The contract, valued at £95,292.52, was awarded under a framework agreement which allows for up to five contractors to be appointed for ongoing works until the contract period ends in March 2022.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in construction and civil engineering, particularly those with experience in roadworks and resurfacing projects. Businesses that can provide quality workmanship at competitive prices will be well-suited to compete, as the evaluation criteria heavily favour price and technical quality. Furthermore, the framework allows for mini-competitions for subsequent projects, providing continual engagement opportunities for successful bidders, which can substantially enhance their business growth within the public sector procurement landscape.
