Summary of the contracting process

North Lanarkshire Council, in collaboration with various councils including East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, and Renfrewshire, has initiated a procurement process for the 'Treatment of Kerbside Collected Paper and Card'. This tender falls under the services category and is currently in the planning stage. The procurement aims to find solutions for sorting and treating mixed paper and card collected from households across the councils' geographical areas. The anticipated timeframe for the implementation of the awarded solution is between mid to late 2020, as existing contracts conclude. Interested parties are encouraged to engage in the market dialogue process, which includes submitting a questionnaire before the deadline of 29 November 2019.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in waste management and recycling, particularly those offering innovative sorting and treatment solutions that comply with environmental legislation. Companies with expertise in sustainable practices, logistics, and waste processing within Scotland may find themselves well-suited to compete for this contract. Engaging in the market dialogue not only allows businesses to influence the procurement strategy but also positions them favourably for upcoming tender submissions, leveraging their capabilities in providing collaborative waste management solutions to local authorities.
