Connecting Clydebank: Improvements to section of A814 Construction
Notice Description
The project seeks to deliver a high quality public realm environment for Clydebank Town Centre. In particular it seeks to improve opportunity for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the A814 linking the new Queens Quay development and the wider Clydebank Town Centre/Shopping Centre. The works to be provided comprise the following main elements: - Carriageway surfacing and kerbing; - Grantie paving and granite/natural stone sett/cube laying; - Construction of raised tables; - Traffic signal design and installation; - Feature lighitng installation; - Softworks including street trees, raised planters and softworks maintenance; - Installation of street furniture; - Lining & Signage; - Service diversions.

The Connecting Clydebank project relates to the A814 (Glasgow Road/ Dumbarton Road) between Clydebank Library and to the west of the Argyll Road junction. The proposals incorporate the following key design elements: - A 20-mph zone along the A814 to create a sense of place and arrival. - Pedestrian and cycle movements between Queen's Quay / Titan Crane and town centre enhanced through a high-quality pedestrian environment, better and improved pedestrian crossings and links to public transport. - Introduction of innovative pedestrian crossing arrangements at Hall St and Hume St - Use of high quality surface materials and raised tables at key locations to maximise the potential of existing civic spaces such as Solidarity Plaza and International Asbestos Memorial. - Car parking including disability spaces and loading have been included and formulated within the design. - Surfacing design to Hall Street provides a setting for the Town Hall which will improve visitor experience and has the potential to encourage further activity to occur outside the building enhancing further its role as the civil hub of Clydebank. - Improvements to the A814 for buses enhancing reliability of bus travel and experience of public transport users. - Improvements to footways to promote economic activity for existing businesses and also encourages further investment.
