North Ayrshire Council intend to award a contract for the supply of civils design and construction for the flood protection scheme in Kilbirnie, Glengarnock and Dalry, North Ayrshire, West Scotland. An important element of this contract will entail working closely with our Project Manager, external Engineering Consultants and Project Managers to ensure co-ordination of all the groundworks and construction works. The successful contractor will be appointed the Principal Contractor and be responsible for all CDM (2015) Regulations. The location of the works is split between 4 No. works units as below; - Work Unit 1 (WU1X) - On -line Storage - Work Unit 2 (WU2X) - Kilbirnie Minor Works - Work Unit 3 (WU3X) - Powgree/Glengarnock - Work Unit 4 (WU4X) - Dalry/DSM The indicative contract start date is 22nd June 2020

The main elements of the scheme are: - - Construction of an online storage reservoir by means of a culverted earthworks dam constructed across the River Garnock just north of Kilbirnie. - Direct defences adjacent to the River Garnock in the Paddockholm area of Kilbirnie, on the Powgree Burn in Glengarnock and adjacent to the DSM plant in Dalry. - A flood defence wall and mitigation measures around the Mill Park residential estate in Dalry.
