Summary of the contracting process

The City of Edinburgh Council is initiating a procurement process for "Therapeutic Services for Bereaved Children and Young Adults" located in Edinburgh, UK. This process is currently in the planning stage, with a total contract value of £240,000. An information day for suppliers is scheduled for 26th August 2019, and interested parties must RSVP by 23rd August 2019. This notice serves as a prior information notification only, aiming to gauge market interest ahead of a potential competitive tender later on.

This opportunity presents a unique chance for businesses that specialise in therapeutic services, particularly those experienced in working with children and young adults coping with bereavement. Organisations capable of delivering one-on-one therapeutic play, training for staff in both statutory and voluntary sectors, as well as offering parental support would be particularly well-suited. Participation in this tender process may facilitate growth in sectors focused on mental health and community services, contributing positively to the welfare of bereaved children and their families.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The City of Edinburgh Council's vision is that Edinburgh's children and young people enjoy their childhood and fulfil their potential. Many young people will have been bereaved of someone close to them (a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, teacher) by the time they are 16. Many will cope well with their loss, but all will need the support of those around them. On top of this, however, some children and young people may need more specialised support and help. The City of Edinburgh Council has purchased a service that delivers therapeutic play/activities for children and young people affected by bereavement for many years. The current contract is in place until March 2020, however we would like to ascertain if there are any other organisations that could deliver such a service. The service would encompass the following elements; - The ability to take referrals from a wide range of partners (both statutory and voluntary sector as well as from families) - The ability to work with children and young people from the age of 5 up to 18 years - The provision of one to one support with children and young people using therapeutic play (Approximately 50 children and young people per year receiving up to 2 sessions) - Provision of training to professional staff in both statutory and voluntary sector (Approximately 10 sessions per year to 80 staff members) - Provision of parental support sessions (To be offered to the parents of children and young people supported under the contract) - Provision of family days (One per year). More information can be found in the PIN Briefing Note.
