Summary of the contracting process

The University of Edinburgh is planning a procurement process for the "SCRM Vanguard Liquid Nitrogen Tanks Framework" to enhance their cryogenic storage capacity at the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine in Edinburgh, UK. This initiative falls under the education category and focuses on the supply of liquid nitrogen cryogenic tanks along with associated technical services. The procurement stage is currently in the planning phase, with an anticipated competitive tender expected to be issued in February 2020. Interested suppliers should note the contact details provided and monitor for upcoming updates.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in cryogenic technology, equipment supply, and installation services. Companies capable of providing high-capacity nitrogen tanks, logistical support, and ongoing maintenance would be particularly well-suited to compete. As the winning supplier will be positioned as the top-ranked partner for future requirements, this framework could foster long-term business relationships and growth within the academic and medical research sectors of the UK.

"description": "The University of Edinburgh are interested in hearing from suppliers who can provide liquid nitrogen cryogenic storage tanks and a range of specialist technical services for a planned upgrade to the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine (SCRM) at the BioQuarter. The current facility holds 6 x Statebourne Biosystem 36 liquid nitrogen tanks. We are planning to fit an additional 4 more, higher capacity units to work seamlessly with the existing equipment. The specification will require (but is not limited to) the below basic features. Any ITT that will be issued following this PIN may have additional minimum standards and features. - 4 x liquid high capacity nitrogen cryogenic biological sample storage tanks - Max diameter of 1600mm (critical logistics dimension which must be complied with) - Approx. height of 1400mm - Approx. vial capacity of 85000 - Ergonomically designed to accommodate a range of operator heights - Supplier must be able to seamlessly interface the new equipment with the existing building's control/alarm/hypoxic monitoring and extract ventilation systems. - Supplier must be able to seamlessly interface the new equipment with the existing vessels to provide various configurations of daisy chain or one off fills. - New vapour phase tanks with base / sump reservoir of liquid nitrogen to sit just underneath the rack carrier, double skinned vapour phase vessels are not technically acceptable for this application. - Equipment must have a key locked lid Equipment must be able to accommodate neck scavenging, supplied and fitted by others, although technical assistance may be required from the supplier. - Must be able to supply and accommodate racking for 9x9 or 10x10 sample boxes with labelling systems as required. Other styles of racking should be available. - Low energy / LN2 consumption profile required. - Ability to deliver on DDP incoterms - Ability and resources to provide full installation - Ability and resources to provide ongoing service/maintenance - Must be able to provide a RAMS statement for all work undertaken by the Supplier and any subcontractors they employ to delvier the project. Potential suppliers are encouraged to contact andrew.helmn@ed.ac.uk with their available solutions. It is estimated a competitive tender will be issued February 2020. Thank you.
