AWARD FOR SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF GLOBAL SHUTTER CAMERAS - University of Aberdeen

UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN

This public procurement record has 2 releases in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

The University of Aberdeen is currently conducting a procurement process for the supply and delivery of global shutter cameras as part of a field-deployable stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) system. The tender, identified as "SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF GLOBAL SHUTTER CAMERAS - University of Aberdeen," aims to acquire six to eight specialised cameras needed for enhancing measurement capabilities in various aquatic environments. The procurement is now in the award stage, with the deadline for bid submissions having been on 13th January 2020. This procurement is categorised under the goods industry and falls within the educational sector, specifically focused on educational research tools and technology.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in high-precision imaging technology and scientific instrumentation. Companies that supply advanced camera systems, particularly those with expertise in sCMOS imaging sensors and relevant environmental measurements, would be well-positioned to compete. The open procurement process encourages participation from both local and foreign bidders, and those equipped to provide customised solutions that integrate effectively with existing software systems will find this opportunity particularly advantageous for expanding their business reach in the education sector.

Notice Title

AWARD FOR SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF GLOBAL SHUTTER CAMERAS - University of Aberdeen

Notice Description

The University is awarding contract for eight cameras to form part of a field-deployable stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) system. The cameras will be installed in a custom frame/housing that may be immersed in rivers, estuaries or ocean environments. The additional cameras (compared to the minimum of two for stereoscopic PIV) will be used to increase the measurement field of view to around 300x800mm while maintaining high spatial resolution of the measured velocity. We will be working with a relatively low intensity illumination source, and therefore need the high sensitivity typical of sCMOS imaging sensors. The cameras should support a global shutter with a frame rate of 50Hz and have a resolution of around 4-5 megapixels. The PIV system is of a custom design and will integrate with our existing software systems for image capture and processing. As such, we do not require any application specific support from the vendor
