Summary of the contracting process

Scotland Excel, a central purchasing body located at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley, is conducting a procurement process for the "Treatment of Organic Waste Services." This initiative falls under the general public services industry category and aims to provide services for the treatment and processing of organic waste, including food waste, garden waste, and co-mingled waste. The procurement has reached the Award stage, with the initial tender published on 13th May 2022. The framework will be accessible to all Scottish councils and other public bodies. The procurement method employed is the open procedure, reflecting a commitment to transparency and competitiveness.

This framework presents significant growth opportunities for businesses engaged in waste management, recycling, and environmental services, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Suppliers that specialise in the collection, treatment, and recycling of organic waste will find a conducive market environment, as multiple lots for food, garden, and co-mingled waste processing are available throughout Scotland. The framework not only facilitates potential contracts but also encourages service innovations and partnerships among local authorities, providing a platform for SMEs to establish a robust market presence in Scotland's waste management sector.
