Summary of the contracting process

The recent procurement process, led by the North Lanarkshire Council, pertains to the "Interim Contracts for Self Directed Support Services," valued at £37,500,000. This initiative falls under the social services industry category and is aimed at vulnerable groups requiring self-directed support. The current stage is in the award phase, with contracts awarded on 18 May 2020 and set to be active for a period of up to nine months, allowing for the continuation of service delivery while longer-term arrangements are being prepared. The procurement method employed was a limited award procedure without prior publication of a competition call.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in social services, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that provide care and support solutions. Given the emphasis on maintaining relationships with existing service users, businesses that have established a rapport and proven service quality in the local community can compete effectively. Furthermore, as the council plans to undertake a future procurement procedure for longer-term contracts, immediate engagement in this interim process could position businesses favourably for future opportunities.
