Notice Description
The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) has released this PIN as a Request for Information (RFI) to potential suppliers of DNA extraction, DNA quantification and PCR amplification kits. The objective of this exercise is to seek your views regarding the future supply of kits for DNA extraction, DNA quantification and PCR amplification of autosomal STR (short tandem repeat) loci for DNA profiling in a forensic science context. By engaging with you (as well as others in the market place) this will ensure you have an opportunity to help shape and influence future contractual arrangements for the SPA. Further information is provided in the RFI document attached to this notice.

Lot 1
The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) has released this PIN as a Request for Information (RFI)to potential suppliers of DNA extraction, DNA quantification and PCR amplification kits. The objective of this exercise is to seek your views regarding the future supply of kits for DNA extraction, DNA quantification and PCR amplification of autosomal STR (short tandem repeat) loci for DNA profiling in a forensic science context. By engaging with you (as well as others in the market place) this will ensure you have an opportunity to help shape and influence future contractual arrangements for the SPA. This exercise is being carried out in advance of any formal procurement exercise. It is not a pre-qualification or tendering exercise. The results of this exercise will be used to inform SPA's decision making process in respect of introducing improved and more effective means of producing DNA profiles. Further information is provided in the RFI document attached to this notice.. SPA may consider dividing the contract into 3 Lots as follows: Lot 1: Supply of DNA extraction kits Lot 2: Supply of DNA quantification kits Lot 3: Supply PCR amplification kits As part of the RFI process, potential suppliers are asked to provide their views on what benefits/risks may result from splitting the tender into 3 separate lots.
