A scoping exercise was conducted by the end user withing School of Medicine with findings drawn that only the NovaSeq 6000 from Illumina can meet all of the specification of requirement, particularly around scalability of and ability to analyse the 'Illumina style' libraries. Also, an Illumina NextSeq 550 (which is now old technology and surplus to requirements) is being traded in as part of this purchase and has generated a significant reduction in the price paid for the NovaSeq 6000.
