Notice Description

Aberdeenshire Council is currently considering its options regarding the future of the contractual arrangements for Ellon Park and Ride extension/improvement works. As part of our fact-finding process, The Council is inviting suppliers to provide information requested in the attached "Request for Information" RFI document. It is hoped this will assist Council staff in shaping their requirements for the future, understanding the current market and future developments, and developing the best value strategy for any future procurement. Ellon Park & Ride currently consists of 290 car parking spaces, bus passenger waiting facilities and a bus turning circle. This project will see the the extension of the car park to provide a further 91 car parking spaces and expansion of the bus operating area, this involves construction of a bus road with its access point being the current bus turning circle and stretching approx. 150m along a disused road.

This project will see the expansion of the bus operating area, construction of a bus road with its access point being the current bus turning circle and stretching approx. 150m along a disused road (original A920) which backs onto the A90. At the east end of this road will be a bus turning circle and beyond that, a SuDS pond, a verge separating this from the A90. The northern pedestrian pathway alongside the new bus road will provide improvements to external passenger waiting facilities by including three high specification bus shelters with digital bus information signage. A staircase is to be constructed to provide access from the car park to the bus stances. The car park extension will provide a further 91 car parking spaces which includes a further 9 disabled parking bays. The project also includes the requirement to replace and enhance the existing CCTV system and car park access bollards. As construction of the new bus road will close the existing bus turning circle, there is a requirement to provide a temporary bus road and turning circle in the existing car park prior to the closure, the layout for this element of the project is provided in drawing SHT-30-0100-CH-1000. All works are as shown on the attached Drawings, including but not limited to: -Earthworks including contractor design Gabion wall with high quality finish of hand placed locally sourced stone -Drainage including construction of a SuDS retention basin and Contractor design cascade from the car park to the SuDS basin -Flexible carriageway construction -Flexible footpath and paved area construction including contractor design staircase from parking area to bus stances. -Concrete kerbing -Street lighting -CCTV system including ducting and poles -Road markings and signage -Road Restraint system including contractor design remotely operated rising bollard system at car park entrance. -Pedestrian barriers -Installation of bus shelters including real time passenger information system -Fencing -Landscaping -Utility works -Temporary Traffic and pedestrian management including temporary bus facilities -Construction of new bus road with associated pedestrian areas and footpaths
