Summary of the contracting process

The Aberdeen City Council is currently in the tender stage for the "Design and Build contractor for Heat Network, Torry, Aberdeen V3" project, which is aimed at establishing a new district heating network in Torry, Aberdeen. The tender is classified under the industry category of works and is set to close on 23rd March 2021. The project is significant as it will draw heat from the NESS Energy-from-Waste facility being developed in collaboration with Aberdeenshire and Moray Councils. The procurement method employed is a selective process, specifically a competitive procedure with negotiation, indicating a focused approach to identify capable contractors for this initiative.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for growth for businesses in the construction and engineering sectors, especially those with experience in district heating networks or energy infrastructure projects. Companies that specialise in sustainable construction and energy-efficient design would be particularly well-suited to compete. Engaging in this project may also lead to additional phases depending on future funding, allowing successful bidders to expand their operations and contribute to the alleviation of fuel poverty in one of Scotland's most deprived areas.
