The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has duties under the Firefighters Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2015 (FPS(S)R 2015) https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2015/19/pdfs/ssi_20150019_en.pdf in respect of its operational/uniformed staff and the Local Government Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (LGPS(S)2018) in respect of its support staff https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2018/141/pdfs/ssi_20180141_en.pdf. This requirement relates to the duties the Service has with regard to early retirement on ill health grounds and in particular to the roles of the Independently Qualified Medical Practitioner (FPS(S)R 2015) and the Independently Registered Medical Practitioner (LGPS(S)2018).
