Consultancy Services - Understanding the Impact of Climate Change on Population Groups in Scotland - University of Edinburgh
Notice Description
ClimateXChange wishes to commission research on whether and which groups in Scotland are disproportionately impacted by climate change.
Lot Information
Lot 1
ClimateXChange wishes to commission research on whether and which groups in Scotland are disproportionately impacted by climate change. The project will look at how these groups are impacted now and the potential impacts in the future, and explore approaches to engage these groups in further dialogue on how to manage the impacts. Climate justice and a commitment to a just transition approach are integral to the Scottish Government's response to climate change, and has been enshrined into the Climate Change Act 2019 . At a global level, poor, vulnerable, and marginalised groups are disproportionately affected by climate change. However, there is little evidence and analysis of the relative impacts of climate change on population groups in Scotland and the actions that can be taken to redress this climate injustice. Climate justice is embedded in the Scottish Government's climate change adaptation policy. The climate justice outcome of the Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Programme 2019-2024 (SCCAP2) aims to ensure that the people in Scotland who are most vulnerable to climate change are able to adapt. An up-to-date and Scotland specific evidence base on various population groups' vulnerability to climate change is needed to enable effective engagement strategies and/or policy interventions can be designed.
