Notice Description

Introduction1. Marine Scotland is responsible for delivering policy to meet our international and national commitments to reduce marine litter, including litter prevention, removal and supporting better waste management for marine industries. The majority of recreational vessels are made of a material containing plastic polymers and there is not a defined infrastructure to manage this waste stream in Scotland. This study seeks to provide the evidence to inform future policy.Background & Context2. In order to inform policy development to improve waste management for end of life recreational vessels, it is essential that there is a clear understanding about the volume, location and type of materials in this waste stream, current disposal options and barriers and potential policy options to address this problem. The contractor will be required to engage with the recreation vessel sector, local authorities, harbours and marinas.
