Notice Description
The interested party would be required to own, install, operate, and maintain the renewable technology ideally, but not limited to North Ayrshire.
Lot Information
Lot 1
North Ayrshire Council declared a Climate Emergency in June 2019 and has committed to achieve net-zero carbon status by 2030. The Council has developed its third Environmental Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy, a roadmap to achieving this emission reduction target. One of the aims within the Strategy is to maximise access to affordable renewable energy technology. The Council are currently developing two solar PV farm projects and undertaking feasibility studies to identify potential wind energy projects. Alongside climate change and sustainability, Community Wealth Building is at the heart of the Council's decision-making process. In order to maximise opportunities for a Green Recovery, North Ayrshire Council is seeking to better understand the interest from community organisations and businesses to install large scale (>50kW) renewable technology, ideally in North Ayrshire, to sell the energy generated to the Council, and contribute the net profit to the North Ayrshire community. The interested party would be required to own, install, operate, and maintain the renewable technology ideally, but not limited to North Ayrshire, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and licensing requirements, and adhering to performance guarantees. The renewable energy generated would be backed by REGO Guarantee and supplied to North Ayrshire Council, at a negotiated rate. The Council anticipate the energy supplier would contribute 100% of net profit to community benefit over the lifetime of the renewable asset. Interested parties are encouraged to propose innovative solutions that optimise value for money for the Council's energy requirements whilst supporting community interest.
