Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Ltd, a central purchasing body based in Port Glasgow, UK, which has initiated a tender titled "Steelwork Services Framework." This procurement falls under the shipbuilding industry category and is currently in the Award stage, with the contract awarded on 6th January 2022, for a total value of £5.6 million. The framework agreement is designed to last for a maximum period of 48 months, aimed at supplying steelwork services to support both current and future vessel construction. The final dates for bid submissions were set for 23rd July 2021, marking a significant investment in maritime infrastructure.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in steelwork services, particularly those experienced in shipbuilding and industrial fabrication. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may find this project particularly accessible, as the framework is open to multiple suppliers, with up to three being awarded. Companies that can provide high-quality services in assembling, erecting, and fabricating steel components will likely thrive in this competitive environment, which also encourages community benefits and collaboration with local businesses. This contracting opportunity not only supports individual business growth but also contributes to the broader maritime industry development in Scotland.
