Notice Title
Material to support the development of land at the Ardrossan North Shore site
Notice Description
North Ayrshire Council require to secure approximately 170,000m3 of material to support the development of land at the Ardrossan North Shore site. The material will allow the site to be developed by allowing the remediation of the site and identified flood risk to be addressed.
Lot Information
Lot 1
The material required will require to be appropriate in terms of its composition, structure and classification in terms of all materials requiring to conform to engineering or semi-engineering fill materials in accordance with general granular or cohesive fill materials including Class1 or Class 2 (or Class 6 or 7). Fill materials in accordance with the Specification for Highway Works (SHW). The fill materials must not be deemed as hazardous on the basis of WM3 assessment and must be chemically suitable for use for development of a residential with plant uptake land use without the need for incorporation of an environmental capping zone layer. Possible sources of fill materials could include the use of dredged sand fill, natural superficial deposits, natural rock derived materials and/or recycled / processed demolition originating materials. All sources of materials must be free from all and any deleterious inclusions such as wood, timber, organic materials, topsoil, vegetation and roots as well as any significant man-made inclusions such as metal pieces or fragments. Soils: Natural: Cohesive or granular soils would be acceptable Fill: Fill, (previously disturbed soils), will also be acceptable, given they are subject to an agreed testing regime, with appropriate Certification Demolition Material Demolition material should not contain any of the following: Tar, Asbestos, Wood, Vegetation, Plasterboard, Metals, Plastics or any other deleterious material. As with "soil fill", any demolition material to be subject to an agreed testing regime, with appropriate Certification being provided, pre delivery. The materials should ideally be reasonable well-graded, in accordance with the aforementioned fill grading requirements, such that the materials are able to be placed in dry or damp conditions (not wet or with standing water) without the prior need for drying out either naturally or artificially and then compacted with the required compaction effort as designated for the particular material classification Where the materials to be provided do not comprise well graded materials, there is the potential for these materials to be blended or mixed with other materials as appropriate in order to achieve a reasonably well-graded engineering fill material to support infrastructure and possible foundations. Where demolition materials are proposed, the structures from where these materials will originate must have had a full "soft strip" undertaken prior to demolition, and must in all cases be completely free from any form of contamination especially the presence of asbestos fragments. Natural boulder clays or Glacial Till could also be a potential source, provided that these materials comprise the more un-weathered materials below any surface weathered zone of soft or soft to firm clays.. The provision of appropriate material will also need to include the following. - Appropriate SEPA Licence. - Delivery to be by a "Consignment Ticket" process to avoid any fly or illegal material entry. - Movement Strategy for each delivery.
