Planning

sale of unused Recycling Boxes

DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY COUNCIL

This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

Dumfries and Galloway Council is planning a tender for the sale of unused recycling boxes, specifically 44-litre and 55-litre black boxes and lids. This procurement falls within the goods category and is taking place in Dumfries, UK. The tender status is currently planned, with a communication date set for 11th November 2021. The Council aims to find buyers for approximately 140,000 boxes and 100,000 lids, encouraging reuse or closed-loop recycling of these materials, which have been stored outdoors for the last three years after being purchased unused in 2012 and 2013.

This tender presents significant business opportunities for companies engaged in recycling, waste management, or sustainable materials supply. Businesses that specialise in recycling equipment or those focusing on circular economy solutions may find this particularly appealing, as the council prefers the recycling outcome to involve transforming these boxes into new recycling bins. Companies able to demonstrate innovative solutions for reusing or recycling such materials will be well-positioned to compete in this procurement process.

Notice Title

sale of unused Recycling Boxes

Notice Description

Dumfries and Galloway Council has a large amount of unused 44 litre and 55 litre black boxes and lids for sale. The boxes have 'hot foil stamping' branding and other information printed on them (sometimes known as 'embossing'). The lids do not have any printing. Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking to sell these bins and lids for reuse or closed loop recycling. If the outcome is recycling, DGC would ideally like to see the material being recycled into new recycling boxes or bins, although any closed loop recycling will be acceptable. The boxes and lids were purchased in 2012 and 2013. They are unused and were stored indoors for several years. For about the last 3 years they have been stored in their present location which is outdoors. Some picture of the boxes in their current storage location are available in the documents included. As a very rough indication of quantity, it is estimated that there may be circa 140,000 boxes (a mixture of 44 litre and 55 litre capacity boxes) and circa 100,000 lids available. It is emphasised that this is a very rough estimate and is not a guarantee of numbers available. The actual quantity could be considerably higher or lower.
