NP185/14 Oxygen at Home service

THE COMMON SERVICES AGENCY (MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS NHS NATIONAL SERVICES SCOTLAND) ("NSS")

This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency, commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), has awarded a contract titled "NP185/14 Oxygen at Home service" for the supply and management of home oxygen services across Scotland. This contract is crucial to support approximately 7,100 existing patients and new entrants to the service. The procurement process, classified under services in the health industry, is currently complete, having been executed without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at £14.6 million, is active and was signed on 18 October 2021. It involves a commitment from the supplier to provide oxygen equipment, installation within standard timelines of four days, and a 24/7 support service to ensure ongoing patient care, fulfilling needs that arose due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The procurement method utilized was limited, with the authority citing Regulation 72(1)(c) of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015 as the rationale for modifying the contract period.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities, particularly for businesses supplying medical services and equipment in Scotland. Companies specialising in healthcare logistics, patient support services, or oxygen provision would find this an ideal contract to pursue, as the awarded contractor, Dolby Vivisol, will need to meet a robust demand for supplies and service continuity. As NHS NSS continues to adapt to increasing pressures on healthcare systems, businesses that can demonstrate efficiency, reliability, and a commitment to quality may successfully position themselves to compete in subsequent procurement opportunities in the health sector.
