Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government is currently inviting tenders for the "Charter for Blue Whiting Spawning Survey," a contract valued at £250,000. This project falls under the services category, specifically focusing on social research related to marine sciences. The procurement process is at the Tender stage, with the submission deadline set for 15 February 2022 at 12:00 PM. The survey will take place from 15 March to 20 April 2022, with further details to be confirmed in January 2022. Bidders must ensure their vessels, which should be over 60 metres in length, are capable of operating from a Scottish mainland port and completing acoustic transects within specified geographical boundaries.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses engaged in marine services, especially those with experience in acoustic surveys and pelagic fishing. Companies capable of providing large-scale vessels for scientific research and familiar with fishing quotas could benefit substantially from this contract. The potential to earn Blue Whiting quota in exchange for survey time offers an added incentive, making this an attractive opportunity for businesses looking to expand their market presence in maritime and fisheries research sectors.
