Design, Supply, and Installation of Fire Doors - Towers

Notice Description

The Council required to appoint a suitable contractor to Design, Supply and Install replacement FD60 Timber Fire Doors. The Council has an obligation to ensure all tenants homes are safe and fit for purpose and comply with current safety legislation. Following the tragic disaster at Grenfell Towers in London in June 2017, the Council require to replace the fire doors (flat entrance fire doors and communal fire doors) in all of the tower blocks across the Council as the existing doors are now deemed non-compliant with the current fire regulations. Fire safety inspections were carried out by the Council and failures along with recommendations were highlighted to advise of the works that are required. The issue, and more specifically, the manufacture, supply and fitting of FD60 Timber fire doors is of a specialised nature. Manufacturers are required to have the relevant certification to be able to construct such door sets which have been tested and certified to the current required standards. The contractor is required to not only supply just single fire doors, but door sets where there is a door with fanlight above or with a sidelight or sometimes both. The contractor is required to be able to supply a full bespoke door screen which complies with current standards.
