The University of Edinburgh requires a Reinstatement Cost Assessment of Buildings to be prepared for its estate to provide a declared reinstatement value to provide to insurers with current valuations on a reinstatement basis using a reasonable methodology. The University is seeking to ensure that the total declared value is adequate, as well as the any one loss limit. The exercise is to be conducted in accordance with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Guidance Note; Reinstatement Cost Assessments of Buildings, 3rd Edition February 2018. Basis of Valuation The figures provided should be an assessment of the cost of reinstating the buildings on the basis of total loss or such substantial damage that the buildings require demolition and reconstruction.
