Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government is currently conducting a tender for the "Charter for Blue Whiting Spawning Survey," aimed at marine services within the health and general public services sector. This procurement is taking place in Glasgow, with a focus on pelagic vessels longer than 60 metres to carry out an acoustic survey for Blue Whiting. The tender period for submissions commenced on 21st March 2022 and concludes at midday on 4th March 2022. The total value of the contract is £250,000 and will require the successful vessel to operate from a Scottish mainland port.

This tender presents a lucrative opportunity for businesses specialising in marine and fishing services, particularly those with capabilities in acoustic survey techniques. Companies that possess relevant quotas and experience in conducting surveys in the specified geographic range, from the shelf edge to the 18°W longitude and between 51°N to 62°N latitude, would be well-suited to compete. Given the grant of scientific quota in exchange for survey time, vessels equipped to handle such arrangements can benefit significantly from this opportunity.
