Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has successfully completed a tender process for "Ill Health Retirals Services". This procurement falls under the services category within the public order and safety industry, primarily focusing on the medical review of cases for eligibility assessments for retiral due to ill health. The contract, valued at £100,000, was signed on 4th March 2022 and is currently active. The services are required throughout Scotland, with the procurement conducted under a framework agreement method.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses specialising in medical assessment and occupational health services, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like Genesis OHS Ltd, the awarded contractor. Companies that offer expertise in independent medical evaluation and have experience with public sector contracts would be well-equipped to compete for similar tenders in the future. The structure of the tendering process, including a mandatory standstill period following award notifications, also provides a fair competitive landscape for prospective bidders.
