Purpose of the work Archaeology Scotland wishes to commission an organisation to deliver a series of training opportunities in rural skills and heritage in west Ardnamurchan as part of the ERDF supported Real Wild West: Adopt-a-Monument (AaM) programme in west Ardnamurchan. The training programme will have three key aims: To provide skills training for the local community in traditional rural skills, heritage and archaeology skills and rural business development. To enable community groups to become actively involved in creating and promoting heritage in their local area. To enable the community to attract new audiences (participatory and non-participatory) and provide opportunities for interested parties to get involved in the cultural heritage, and economic development of their local area. The programme will deliver 12 training opportunities which have been chosen through consultation with the local community and will include: Carpentry (for traditional building skills) Woodland management Dry stane dyking Basket making Wood carving Historical mapping Historical research skills Archaeological field walking/survey Graveyard recording and research Cultural/natural heritage business development Rural business development Photography (natural and cultural heritage focus) A final output will include a training resource, the design and format of which should be determined in relation to consultation with AS and the local community.
