Notice Title
Implementation plan for the translation of a robotic research prototype to ISO13485 regulatory approved medical device status.
Notice Description
The consultancy services the subject of this Notice are to help develop an implementation plan for the translation of a robotic bronchoscopy research prototype to ISO13485 regulatory approved medical device status.
Lot Information
Lot 1
The consultancy services the subject of this Notice are to help develop an implementation plan for the translation of a robotic bronchoscopy research prototype, designed to access the peripheral lung for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, to ISO13485 regulatory approved medical device status; and to ascertain the costs and resources required to support this.
Procurement Information
The proposed robotic bronchoscopy work is directly related to previous work targeting the same clinical need (lung diagnostics), and there is a potential for the robotic system to be used to guide fibres and microendoscopes developed by the Universities of Edinburgh and Bath. As such, there is considerable value is maintaining and sharing knowledge created across these projects which a new supplier could not match. This project is expected to last 6 weeks and inform a longer term and much larger delivery project, the subject of a separate tendering exercise should this pilot proposal prove viable.
