Notice Title
Scotland's international environmental impact: evidence base and policy levers
Notice Description
The research project will support the development of the Environment Strategy for Scotland. In particular, it will provide an evidence base needed to inform the development of a 'pathway' for achieving one of the Strategy's outcomes: 'We are responsible global citizens with a sustainable international footprint'. Currently the evidence base for understanding and quantifying Scotland's global footprint often relates more to UK level impacts or specific sectors, with a need for a more comprehensive and Scotland-specific evidence base. To address this gap, the proposed research aims to gather and analyse existing sources of evidence to draw conclusions on the nature and extent of Scotland's international environmental impact and recommend policy levers that could be used most effectively by the Scottish Government to improve the sustainability of this impact. The outputs will help to inform the development of the 'outcome pathway' for the Environment Strategy outcome on Scotland's international footprint.
