Lot 1

The Children with Disabilities team support children and young people with a range of severe and enduring disabilities and/or medical conditions. This includes the provision of support in the home to help the individual stay as part of their family unit as well as the provision of scheduled short breaks for the family. The term short break is a general term, defined as "... any form of service or assistance which enables the carer(s) to have sufficient and regular periods away from their caring routines or responsibilities." With the purpose of "...support[ing] the caring relationship and promot[ing] the health and well-being of the carer, the supported person, and other family members affected by the caring situation." This requirement specifically covers the need for residential short breaks, defined as follows: A residential short break is a specific form of short break, typically provided in a residential setting that may include overnight stays, day care or sessional visits. This is the most intensive short break support offered by Stirling Council and is typically reserved to children and young people with complex care needs or where a family is in crisis. This Residential Short Break provision will complement existing arrangements.
