CPI is a leading independent technology innovation centre and a founding member of the UK Government's High Value Manufacturing Catapult, which supports businesses and academia to help them overcome innovation challenges in the development of next generation products and processes by providing the facilities, in depth technical expertise and innovation support to enable ideas, research and knowledge to be translated into commercial business propositions. The CPI SONNET program provides funding to support SMEs giving them access CPI's expertise and facilities to translate smart IoT concepts to viable commercial products. CPI will tailor SME support to give design, development, upscaling, and potential market seeding of these novel products. These will include processes to develop Internet of Things hardware, Smart Packaging solutions and connected Medical Devices which rely on the acquisition, analysis, and application of data.

In order to fully test the IoT connectivity of SONNET projects, CPI have produced several bespoke 'Engineering' Apps running on the Android Platform. These bare bones applications are used to test, configure and demonstrate mobile device connectivity. Multiple clients have asked us to further develop these Apps into fully fledged Play Store release candidate with enhanced UI/UX so that they can be used for trials and demonstrations.
