Nutrition Services for People in the Justice Service
Notice Description
The requirement is to procure a service that provides support to vulnerable women in the justice system with nutrition and wellbeing and prevent them falling into food poverty. The Women's Justice Service in Edinburgh provides a range of support to women in the justice system tailored to meet their needs. This may include support with mental health, substance use, physical health and wellbeing. The service shall work with the Women's Justice Team Leader and her team to support women to increase their awareness of a healthy balanced diet, to access affordable food, and to gain confidence in food preparation and cooking. The service shall provide both 1:1 and group support to women at the Women's Justice Centre. The requirement is needed as many women in the justice system lack the skills and confidence to take care of their health and nutrition, and to perform cooking tasks which has a detrimental impact on their health and wellbeing. The service shall employ qualified nutritionists to deliver a flexible, specialist service and support the 'ending poverty' outcome as set out in the Council's Business Plan Priorities.

Lot 1
The service will assist women to be self-sufficient and acquire cooking skills to support them to stay out of food poverty, cooking healthy meals with minimal equipment and on a budget. The service provider will deliver the service in a supportive nurturing environment in which women are encouraged to develop healthy eating habits which in turn improves their wellbeing. Specific deliverables include, Staff member to be employed for 21 hours per week to deliver the contract: 100 group nutrition sessions 50 1 to 1 nutrition sessions Kitchen/store cupboard essentials starter packs x 10 (approx. 100 GBP each) Basic contract value 15,000 GBP per annum. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is not an invitation to tender. The purpose of this PIN is to test the market and allow organisations with appropriate experience to register their interest without commitment to themselves or the City of Edinburgh Council. Notes of interest should be made no later than 7th April 2023.
