Notice Title
Award of RESAS/001/23 - Scottish grocery large retailer annual sales data (2021 and 2022)
Notice Description
Introduction4. The Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) is due to launch on 16 August 2023. Ahead of this, the Scottish Government has committed to bringing forward amendments to the DRS regulations so that only the largest grocery retailers will initially be obliged to provide an online 'takeback' service, with the obligation phased in. All other businesses will be exempt. Background & Context5. We are undertaking a review of evidence to inform these amendments to the regulations. This work will inform a proportionate, deliverable solution to online takeback for DRS that ensures that elderly and disabled people are still able to participate fully in the scheme. To support this review of evidence, we are seeking recent data on the grocery market in Scotland as part of setting a proportionate, fair and robust threshold for any obligation to provide an online takeback service.
