Notice Title

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Farms - Clerk of Works & Design Guardian

Notice Description

North Ayrshire Council ("NAC") are looking to notify the market about this potential future contract opportunity. NAC declared a climate emergency on 11th June 2019, committing to take action on climate change and has set an ambitious target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. In order to achieve this, NAC developed the Environmental Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy 2021-23 as a route map to achieve this target. In order to contribute towards this target, NAC allocated funds towards the development of two solar PV farms at Nethermains, Kilwinning and Shewalton, Irvine. It is expected the solar PV farms will: - Provide a substantial amount of clean, renewable energy to supply the local electricity grid; - Make a further positive contribution to NAC's carbon reduction and contribute to NAC's climate emergency declaration commitment to be net zero carbon by 2030; - Provide a localised economic activity and long-term productive use for the former landfill sites that would be otherwise difficult to develop. - Provide an annual net income that can be reinvested in North Ayrshire. NAC now require to appoint a clerk of works to inspect the workmanship, quality and safety of work at both construction sites and report back to NAC's authority's representative. NAC also require to appoint a design guardian to ensure the design quality is maintained throughout the project. Suppliers interested in this potential opportunity must complete the attached questionnaire and return by email to FRoss@north-ayrshire.gov.uk, Trainee Assistant Procurement Officer (Corporate Procurement) by close of business Thursday 6th July 2023.
