SCTS-2023-100- Exploratory Study on Unwarranted Disparities In Sentencing in Scotland
Notice Description
The Council has a statutory duty to publish, from time to time, data on sentencing in Scotland. To fulfil that duty, the Council is looking to commission research exploring whether there is evidence of unwarranted disparities in sentencing in Scotland.The purpose of the Project is to undertake exploratory research on whether there is evidence to indicate unwarranted disparities in sentencing outcomes in Scotland. This should include explorations of both social class and ethnic origin of offenders. A Report effectively and accurately reflecting those views on that subject matter must be produced.The Council can facilitate access to relevant data or to sentencers, if required.
