Independent Advocacy Services for Adults (aged 16 and over - including over 65)
Notice Description
The Council has a legislative requirement to provide and deliver advocacy services for people living in West Dunbartonshire who require it, many of whom have complex needs. This can relate to people with significant or enduring health needs and disabilities. Services can be provided using various models of support; one of which is independent advocacy services. The main focus of the service will be to support individuals with independent professional advocacy which adheres to the standards and principles for Independent Professional Advocacy as outlined by Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance (SIAA). This role is to inform, empower and represent the interests of individual service users to improve access to health and social care services and to improve health and social care outcomes. The provider must be independent of other third and statutory service providers. Independent advocates must be able to work with people living in West Dunbartonshire and must be experienced in acting independently and without conflict of interest. Further to the terms and conditions stated within the Contract, the Provider is required to comply with the requirements detailed in the Service Specification.
