Summary of the contracting process

North Lanarkshire Council has entered the award stage of the procurement process for a consultancy project titled "Award of Mill Road Motherwell". This initiative falls under the services category and primarily involves urban planning and landscape architectural services, with CPV classifications 71410000 and 71420000. The project pertains to a site feasibility study in Motherwell, Scotland, aimed at assessing future options for a vacant site near the town centre. It could potentially enhance connectivity within the local residential area and determine the creation of a sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS). The contract was officially signed on 5th October 2024 with the supplier Project Centre, headquartered in Edinburgh, and is valued at £18,950.

This procurement process represents a significant business growth opportunity for organisations specialising in urban planning and environmental consultancy. Companies such as those providing landscape architectural services or with expertise in designing drainage systems could find this project well-aligned with their capabilities. Moreover, businesses capable of community engagement and sustainability solutions might see future opportunities in developments like this, which involve collaboration with local community groups. The successful execution of such projects could foster strong relationships with public sector clients, paving the way for additional work in similar municipal projects.

Notice Title

Award of Mill Road Motherwell

Notice Description

The purpose of this proposed consultancy work is to provide NLC with a site feasibilitystudy which will include future options for the vacant site currently privately owned by a number of owners. The site's proximity to Motherwell Town Centre could provide an idealgreen space and could be ideal for creating more connectivity within the existing residential developments. The site has also been identified as a potential surface water catchment area so a SUDS scheme will have to be taken into consideration when design options are produced for this site. The future use of the site is expected to link local community groups with the site and potentially the wider community if appropriate. The expectation is that the site if developed could be leased to an identified local group but would exclude the SUDS's area.High level costings will be required to for design options to allow for a potential future funding application to take place.
