Summary of the contracting process

Renfrewshire Council has successfully awarded a contract for the provision of early learning and childcare places under its Flexible Framework, initially launched in May 2021. This initiative is part of the Council’s management of Scottish Government funding to support eligible pre-school children within the council area. The procurement follows an open procedure, specifically targeting the General Public Services industry category. Located in Renfrewshire, the procurement process has completed its award and contract stages as of June 2024. The framework, potentially extendable beyond its current period ending in April 2024, facilitates the inclusion of new entrants from March 2024, providing significant business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in childminding services.

This contract presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in early childhood education and care services to expand within the Renfrewshire area. With a significant contract value of £42 million, it attracts providers capable of delivering high-quality childcare services. The successful suppliers, including Elaine Parkhill Childminding, Sharon's Tiny Tots Childminding, and Little Paddock Childminding, exemplify the calibre of SMEs suitable for such tenders. Businesses aiming to enter or expand in this sector would benefit from meeting the tender’s meticulous selection and technical criteria, ensuring compliance with insurance and quality management standards to enhance their competitiveness in the public procurement landscape.
