Charter for North Coast Mooring Recovery
Notice Description
Scottish Ministers through the Marine Directorate (MD) invites tenders from suitable vessels to undertake the recovery of acoustic listening stations off the North Coast of Scotland. The MD deploys moorings to enable effective monitoring of migratory fish and marine mammals. These moorings extend no more than 5 meters from the sea bed, have no surface buoy and are normally recovered these via an acoustic release mechanism.

Scottish Ministers through the Marine Directorate (MD) invites tenders from suitable vessels to undertake the recovery of acoustic listening stations off the North Coast of Scotland. The MD deploys moorings to enable effective monitoring of migratory fish and marine mammals. These moorings extend no more than 5 meters from the sea bed, have no surface buoy and are normally recovered these via an acoustic release mechanism. On occasion this fails and there is a need to recover the unit via an ROV operated from a vessel at a later date. Consisting of 40 moorings weighing approximately 100 kgs the moorings are located between 30 and 120km west of Orkney and about 20 km north of Cape Wrath.
